Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
However, his comments indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to all who wish to learn.”
