Iran Claims Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
It said missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
