Celebrity Traitors Final Episode Accidentally Uploaded 24 Hours Prematurely Outside the UK
Note: This piece avoids spoilers related to the final episode
The final episode of the celebrity version of The Traitors was uploaded in error by overseas distributors before its planned UK airing on Thursday, as confirmed a network statement.
It is understood that the finale was watched by a few hundred subscribers of the streaming service Crave in Canada; these individuals were able to watch it for a couple of hours until it was removed.
This episode being released was not a mistake by the producing network, and a representative for the corporation urged those who believe they know the result of the show to "refrain from posting any reveals".
"We urge anyone who thinks they know the ending of The Celebrity Traitors to keep whatever they believe they know to themselves," the announcement read.
"Please avoid sharing potential spoilers so that the vast audience who have been closely watching every twist and turn of the series can enjoy the finale this night."
The Celebrity Traitors is currently the top-rated TV program of the current year, with an average of 12.6m viewers over the initial installments.
Fans of the series have been eagerly anticipating to see whether deceivers Cat Burns and Alan Carr will secure the £100,000 for a good cause or whether faithfuls Joe Marler, Nick Mohammed and David Olosuga will be victorious.
A former winner of the third series of The Traitors commented that "everyone dislikes spoilers", which are "joy's enemy".
He said he will be sitting down to watch the final tonight live, with all of his family and "a bucket of popcorn".
Thursday's final episode is extended to 70 minutes on the main channel, with an extended edition of the companion show scheduled to broadcast on BBC Two following the final.
Presenter Ed Gamble will be accompanied by the contestants and Claudia Winkleman as they respond to the series conclusion.
