Britain Set to Use Seized Russia's Assets to Fund the Ukrainian Military Campaign
The British government is set to progress with utilizing the full worth of immobilized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced.
In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, France, and Germany stated that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to come to the table.
They further noted that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the America.
United Kingdom penalties have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russia's resources since the Russian government began its widespread offensive against Ukraine in 2022. But, previously, money provided to Ukraine using Russian holdings had exclusively been sourced from gains and dividends generated on them.
Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were united in their desire to push forward toward using the complete amount of the seized Russian sovereign holdings to halt hostilities.
He added that further measures over the next period would heighten the tension on the Russian government.
This announcement follows European Union representatives convened in Copenhagen last week to consider employing frozen Russia's assets for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.
Recently, US President Donald Trump encouraged international partners to take or employ frozen Russia's holdings, based on reports.
The worth of immobilized Russia's funds in the EU is calculated to be approximately €211bn.

Russia carried out extensive missile and drone strikes across Ukraine on Friday, resulting in power cuts in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and several other zones.
Several persons were killed and at least 20 people were injured in the assault, authorities in Ukraine said.
In a update on X subsequent to the incident, Zelensky stated that the cynical and calculated attack focused on public and utility structures.
"The necessity is not mere statements but decisive action - from the US, the European Union, and the seven nations - in delivering air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," he emphasized.
"All penalty impositions diminishes Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky declared, in a different message.
In the same period, Zelensky stated to reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to participate in the Purl scheme, under which partner nations buy arms from the America to donate to Ukraine.
While praising the UK's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the initiative, as well as enforce additional measures on the Russian Federation.
