Beloved Actor Pat Finn, Known For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.
Stateside actor Pat Finn, who featured in beloved television series including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"He saw everyone as a friend - only friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a message.
They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".
A Prolific Television Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He was also seen in a repeating character on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on several well-known programs, including:
- King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House
His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.
His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Beyond the Screen
Away from his acting parts, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was a member of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students during his career and it would be difficult to find a person anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared on social media.
Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
